Colbie Caillat built her early following the old fashioned way, by posting songs on MySpace, where she held the top spot as the most popular unsigned artist in her genre for four consecutive months. That organic buzz led to a deal with Universal Republic Records and her debut album Coco in 2007, which went double platinum and sent the breezy, acoustic driven single Bubbly into the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. Her warm, unhurried sound sits somewhere between pop, folk pop and soft pop rock, and it connected immediately with a wide audience. Her momentum only grew from there. Her duet with Jason Mraz, Lucky, won a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, and her second album Breakthrough debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. She also co wrote Taylor Swift's Breathe and took home the Album of the Year Grammy as a contributor to Fearless. Later albums including All of You, the holiday record Christmas in the Sand, and Gypsy Heart with its single Try kept her busy through the 2010s, and she spent time as part of the country quartet Gone West between 2018 and 2020.
