About
Daria van den Bercken has a habit of making classical music impossible to ignore. The Dutch pianist once performed a concert with her grand piano suspended from a crane in São Paulo, and she champions rarely heard repertoire by composers like C.P.E. Bach, Clara Schumann, and Lili Boulanger. Her particular passion is baroque keyboard music on the modern piano, especially the overlooked works of Handel, which she has brought to audiences through house concerts in Amsterdam and other unconventional settings. She has soloed with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Radio France Philharmonique, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra, among others, and served as Artist in Residence with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Her TED talk from 2014 has passed a million views and was named one of that year's top ten picks. She has seven albums to her name and founded the Keys to Music Foundation in 2016, which launched the Piano Biënnale in Arnhem and Nijmegen in 2021.
