About
Nine piece Amsterdam skapunk outfit De Hardheid have been shaking up Dutch stages since 1996, singing entirely in their native language about all kinds of subjects. Drawing on a sharp mix of influences including The Specials, The Skatalites, Doe Maar and the Dead Kennedys, they carved out a distinctive sound that sits somewhere between classic ska, punk energy and a distinctly Dutch sensibility. Over their active years they put out three studio albums and an EP, starting with Wreed voor je in 1999 and closing out with the Laat Je Tanden Zien EP in 2008. The band went on an open ended sabbatical in early 2009, but they never fully disappeared. Reunion gigs kept popping up, and by 2023 they were still showing their faces at Dutch poppodia and festivals. For a band technically on hiatus, they have a funny way of sticking around.
