Winning the ninth season of The Voice of Holland in 2019 put Dennis van Aarssen on the map, but his jazz sensibility sets him apart from the usual talent show crowd. The Dutch singer gravitates toward swing and big band sounds, and he wasted no time proving that: just six months after his TV win, he launched the theatre show Start Spreading The News, touring 31 venues across the Netherlands with BOSCO Jazz and Poporchestra. His debut album Forever You earned him the Edison Jazzism Publieksprijs in 2020, voted on by nearly six thousand readers of the jazz magazine Jazzism. He picked up that same award again in 2024, this time for Just Call It Love, a collaboration with American pianist and songwriter Jeff Franzel. Since 2020 he has been taking his own DvA Bigband to theatres and clubs at home and abroad.
