Dima Slobodeniouk is a Finnish Russian conductor who studied with Jorma Panula and Esa Pekka Salonen. He has stood in front of some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. The Nederlands Philharmonisch has also welcomed him as a guest on multiple occasions. His connection with the Concertgebouworkest deepened through a performance of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, a work he handles with clear authority. That concert left enough of an impression that the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest moved to book him as well. Tchaikovsky's so called Fate Symphony, with its arc from a funeral march to heroic triumph, is obviously repertoire he feels very much at home in.
