Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in Pinner, Elton John became one of the best selling music artists of all time, shifting over 300 million records worldwide on the strength of a catalogue that spans six decades and 32 studio albums. His songwriting partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin produced some of pop's most enduring moments: Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Candle in the Wind. That last one, rewritten as a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales, remains the best selling chart single in history. His live presence has always been larger than life, all flamboyant costumes and showmanship at the piano, and his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour became the highest grossing concert tour ever recorded. Beyond music, he composed for The Lion King and Billy Elliot the Musical, saw his life turned into the 2019 biographical film Rocketman, and has raised over £300 million through his AIDS Foundation. Rolling Stone ranks him among the greatest artists, singers and songwriters of all time.
