About
Also known as: Fee Claassen
Fay Claassen is a jazz vocalist from Nijmegen whose voice tends to stop people in their tracks, expressive and versatile enough to move between intimate balladry and full big band settings. She has built a reputation in the Dutch jazz scene for programmes that are carefully conceived rather than just collections of songs, and one of her recurring focuses is the vocal catalogue of Barbra Streisand, which she performs with strings in a concert setting designed to bring out the warmth and grandeur of that repertoire. Her voice carries real character, the kind that suits both the precision jazz demands and the emotional directness of classic pop standards.
