About
Fleshwater blur the lines between shoegaze dreaminess and post hardcore aggression in a way that feels genuinely fresh. Formed in Boston around 2017 by Anthony DiDio and Matt Wood, both also members of Vein.fm, the band found its full shape when lead vocalist and multi instrumentalist Marisa Shirar came on board. Their 2020 debut EP demo2020 quietly racked up over a million Spotify streams on the strength of 'Linda Claire' alone, building a devoted cult following before most people knew their name. The 2022 debut album We're Not Here to Be Loved cemented that reputation, pulling in comparisons to Sunny Day Real Estate, Hum, and Dinosaur Jr. while carving out something distinctly their own. A surprise EP of remixed and reimagined album tracks followed in late 2023, and they have since been tapped to join Deftones and the Mars Volta on a major North American tour.
