Few voices in pop history are as instantly recognizable as Frankie Valli's. The Newark born singer built his career on an unusually powerful countertenor that set the Four Seasons apart from every other group of their era, blending doo wop harmonies with rock and roll energy in a way nobody else was quite doing. The group racked up 29 top 40 hits together, with number ones including "Sherry", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Walk Like a Man", "Rag Doll", and the disco era comeback "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)". Valli also kept a parallel solo career going, scoring big with "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and later the massive title track for the film Grease. The Four Seasons were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, and the group's story got a whole new generation of fans after the Jersey Boys musical hit the stage in 2005 and later became a Clint Eastwood film. Valli and the band picked up a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2024, and early 2025 brought him his first ever Grammy, a Lifetime Achievement Award that was, frankly, long overdue.
