About
Frans Pollux is a Dutch musician, journalist and writer from Tegelen in the Netherlands, best known as the founder and singer/guitarist of the dialect pop band Neet oét Lottum, which he started in 1996 with guitarist Michel Wijlaars. The band sings in Limburgish, the regional language of the Dutch province of Limburg, and their track Hald mich 's vas hit number one in the Limbo Top 100 in 2005. That same song has found its way into the NPO Radio 2 Top 2000 every year since, peaking at number 235 in 2007. Beyond the band, Pollux has written music for others, including the club anthem for football club VVV Venlo and carnival songs that have won regional competitions. He collaborated with Chantal Janzen on the track Hallo in de Yellow, released on the compilation Venloos' Trots. His creative output stretches well past music: he served as city poet of Venlo, writes a regular column in Dagblad de Limburger, and produced the acclaimed podcast De Laatste Dans for NTR and NPO Radio 1, which earned him a nomination for the Dutch Podcast Awards.
