Gloria Estefan built one of the most remarkable careers in pop history, starting as the lead voice of Miami Sound Machine before going solo and racking up over 150 million records sold worldwide. Her sound pulls from latin pop, dance, bolero, son cubano and straight up pop, and she has a rare gift for moving between Spanish and English material without losing momentum. Albums like Cuts Both Ways and Mi Tierra showed just how wide her range was, and the 1989 single Get On Your Feet became part of a run of hits that few artists of that era could match. A serious bus accident in 1990 broke her back and threatened her career, but she returned the following year with Coming Out of the Dark, which became one of her biggest hits. She has won five Grammy Awards, including one for the Spanish language album Abriendo Puertas. More recently she has been putting out music including Thankful and Doy Gracias Por Ti.
