Grandson, the project of Jordan Benjamin, built his name on music with a point to make. His breakout single "Blood // Water" landed on multiple Billboard charts and earned him the SOCAN Songwriting Prize in 2019, while tracks like "Thoughts & Prayers" and "6:00" took direct aim at gun violence and police brutality. That blend of alternative rock, rap rock and political hip hop became his signature: punchy, confrontational, and hard to ignore. He released the three part A Modern Tragedy EP series between 2018 and 2019, then followed it up with his debut album Death of an Optimist in December 2020, a record with a noticeably heavier tone. His second album, I Love You, I'm Trying, arrived in May 2023. Along the way he has shared stages with acts including Smashing Pumpkins, Nothing But Thieves, and Imagine Dragons, and he featured on Mike Shinoda's Post Traumatic. He has since gone independent, releasing his third album Inertia in September 2025 on his own XX Records.
