Dead Poet Society have built their reputation on a sound that sits somewhere between heavy, down tuned guitar riffs and surprisingly soft, pop leaning choruses. Frontman Jack Underkofler once called it 'djent pop', which is a pretty accurate shorthand for the contrast they pull off. The Boston born, Los Angeles based four piece formed at Berklee College of Music and spent years grinding the Mexican touring circuit before cracking the US market, opening for acts like Andrés and Badflower around 2019. They signed to Spinefarm Records in 2020 and dropped their debut album, titled !, in 2021. Their second album Fission followed in 2024, and a recent collaboration with The Warning, a track called HURT, shows them still pushing outward. AllMusic pegged their style as 'dark alternative hard rock' rooted in angst and personal struggle, and that tension between aggression and melody is exactly what keeps their fanbase growing.
