About
Also known as: Hannu Petteri Lintu
Hannu Lintu is one of Finland's most sought after conductors, equally at home on the opera pit and the concert stage. He led the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra as chief conductor from 2013 to 2021, a tenure that cemented his reputation for tackling both core orchestral repertoire and contemporary works. He took on the Finnish National Opera and Ballet as chief conductor from 2022, while simultaneously building an international portfolio that includes the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, where his contract runs through 2030. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra named him their next music director, kicking in from the 2026 to 2027 season. On record, Lintu has worked with labels including Hyperion, Naxos, Ondine and Dacapo, giving his interpretations a solid presence beyond the concert hall. His programming sensibility leans toward Finnish and contemporary classical music, fitting for someone who once served as artistic director for Avanti!, Finland's specialist contemporary music ensemble. The Lahti Symphony Orchestra also brought him on board as artistic partner from autumn 2025, so his roots in Finnish musical life stay deep.
