Few composers have shaped the sound of modern cinema quite like Hans Zimmer. Working out of his famously gear packed Santa Monica studio, he has scored more than 150 films since the 1980s, blending electronic textures with full orchestral arrangements in a way that has become instantly recognizable. He has taken home the Academy Award for Best Original Score twice, for The Lion King in 1994 and for Dune in 2021, and his catalog stretches from Rain Man and Gladiator to Inception, Interstellar, and No Time to Die. Before all of that, he was playing keyboards with the Buggles and briefly appearing in the video for Video Killed the Radio Star, which is a fun piece of trivia that surprises most people. His long collaboration with Christopher Nolan across six films, from Batman Begins through Dunkirk, produced some of the most talked about scores of the past two decades. More recently, his Desert Diamond concert event in 2025 brought his Interstellar work to a live audience, showing he has no intention of slowing down.
