About
Also known as: The Hot Water Music Band
Hot Water Music named themselves after a Charles Bukowski short story collection, which tells you something about the literary streak running through this Gainesville, Florida punk rock band. Formed in 1994, the core lineup of Chuck Ragan and Chris Wollard sharing vocals and guitar duties, alongside bassist Jason Black and drummer George Rebelo, built a reputation on relentless touring and a raw, melodic sound that eventually landed them on Epitaph Records. Their 2002 album Caution was the commercial breakthrough, but the grind eventually caught up with them and they split in 2006, with the remaining three forming The Draft while Ragan pursued an acoustic solo path. They have never stayed away for long though. A 2008 reunion for a B sides compilation turned into a sustained comeback, and since then they have kept releasing records, adding guitarist and vocalist Chris Cresswell to the fold in 2017. Their discography now stretches to ten studio albums, most recently Vows in 2024, a run that few bands from the mid 90s punk scene can match.
