About
Hotel Mira started life as JPNSGRLS, a Vancouver alternative rock band whose name was a deliberately vowel stripped version of Japanese Girls, itself a tribute to Japanese indie act Mass of the Fermenting Dregs. Under that original name they built a serious live reputation and released the debut album Circulation in 2014, a record that blended 90s alt rock with post punk energy and landed singles like "Smalls" at number one on CBC Radio 3. After a rebrand in 2018, the band emerged as Hotel Mira with a tighter, refreshed lineup. The name change came with a new sound and fresh ambition. Their first full length as Hotel Mira, Perfectionism, dropped on Valentine's Day 2020, with Clark Grieve on keyboards and Cole George on drums rounding out the group alongside vocalist Charlie Kerr, bassist Mike Noble, and guitarist Colton Lauro. The current lineup of Kerr, Noble, Grieve, and George has been putting out music ever since, carrying forward that Vancouver alternative rock spirit with a more polished edge.
