About
Also known as: Isolde
Isolde Lasoen is one of those musicians you probably heard long before you knew her name. A drummer by trade, she has played in bands like Daan, Saint Marteau, The Happy, Briskey and The Whodads, and she has also done freelance work for a long list of Belgian names, including Guido Belcanto, Flip Kowlier, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Novastar and Kapotski. On Daan's albums Simple and Le Franc Belge she stepped up as a proper all rounder, handling vocals, drums, vibraphone, trumpet, bass synth and percussion, and she mixes those instruments together on stage too. That put her singing in the spotlight and nudged her toward her own projects, like Isolde et Les Bens, where she digs into old French and English songs. Their single Aluminium Folie came out in December 2012. Trained in jazz at the conservatory in Ghent, she also teaches drumming at a secondary school for the arts there.
