About
Also known as: Jason Bradley DeFord, Jason DeFord, JellyRoll
Few artists have crossed as many genre lines as Jelly Roll, the Nashville rapper turned country rock singer who went from selling mixtapes out of his car to selling out arenas. His 2022 single "Son of a Sinner" changed everything, spending a record breaking 25 weeks at number one on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart and sweeping three CMT Music Awards in 2023. That same year he won New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards, and his ninth studio album Whitsitt Chapel cemented his place in country music. His tenth studio album, Beautifully Broken, released in October 2024, earned him three Grammy wins including Best Contemporary Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Shaboozey. He has collaborated with an unusually wide range of artists over the years, from Tech N9ne and Lil Wyte to Eminem, who featured him on the track "Somebody Save Me" from The Death of Slim Shady. In September 2024 he opened the 50th season of Saturday Night Live as musical guest, performing both his own songs and a Johnny Cash medley with The Roots.
