About
Jeroen van Veen is the leading exponent of minimalism in classical piano in the Netherlands, a distinction he has earned through over 200 recordings for labels including Naxos and Brilliant Classics. His output spans solo recitals, duo work with his brother Maarten and his ex wife Sandra, and larger ensembles ranging from piano quartets to six piano formations. Minimal music sits at the core of his compositional and performing identity, with major projects including a 9 CD Minimal Piano Collection box set weighted toward Philip Glass, the complete piano works of George Crumb, and a full recording of Steve Reich's chamber music. Beyond the studio, Van Veen keeps a busy hand in the classical music infrastructure. He chairs the Simeon ten Holt Foundation, directs the Murray Dranoff Two Piano Competition in Miami, and co founded the International Student Piano Competition in Utrecht. His recording of Erik Satie's piano four hands music with Sandra van Veen earned a perfect 10 out of 10 on Classics Today, and The New York Times singled out his piano playing in Stravinsky's Les Noces for special praise.
