About
Also known as: Joey Bertolino, Joseph Bertolino
Joey Valence is one half of Joey Valence & Brae, a Pennsylvania hip hop duo who mash boom bap together with EDM and punk. Their sound leans hard on nostalgia, with the Beastie Boys as a clear touchstone and a stream of 90s references to things like Mortal Kombat, Nike Airs and Super Mario. Joey records the music at home in his bedroom, which makes the big, loud, party ready energy even more impressive. They caught on quickly with both indie hip hop diehards and Gen Z listeners, helped along by TikTok and festival bookings within their first year. Their third album, HYPERYOUTH, features guests like TiaCorine, Rebecca Black and JPEGMAFIA, and is pitched as a record about growing up without ever getting old, and keeping the dance floor alive.
