About
Also known as: J.B. Williams, John B U.K., John B. Williams, John Bryn Williams, John Williams, JohnB, Jon B, johnbbeta, johnbdnb
John B has been one of drum and bass's most restless experimenters since the mid 1990s, always pushing the genre somewhere unexpected. The Maidenhead born DJ and producer runs Beta Recordings, the label he built alongside sub labels Nu Electro, Tangent, and Chihuahua, giving him full creative control over his output. His sound has shifted across multiple phases: early on he became known for blending trance like synths and female vocals into what listeners called "trance and bass", then he pivoted hard into an 80s influenced fusion of electro and drum and bass that earned the nickname "electrostep". He has also explored darkstep, jazzstep, and electro house, often throwing disco and rock into his DJ sets just to keep things interesting. His discography stretches from Visions in 1997 through to Found In Rave in 2025, which suggests he is still very much at it.
