Judith Owen has built a quietly impressive career as a singer songwriter, releasing over a dozen albums since her 1996 debut Emotions on a Postcard. She co founded Twanky Records with her husband, actor Harry Shearer, and has toured and recorded with Richard Thompson, appearing on his albums The Old Kit Bag and Sweet Warrior. Her 2014 album Ebb & Flow brought her wider European attention, with praise from publications including The Sunday Times, Le Figaro and Rolling Stone Germany, and her 2018 record redisCOVERed showed off a more playful side with her takes on everything from Deep Purple to Drake. She has a knack for turning up in unexpected places, from singing on The Simpsons to performing an impromptu acoustic set in her London living room for journalists after a Bryan Ferry support slot fell through. Lately she has been leaning into jazz, with live recordings from Marians Jazzroom in Bern surfacing in 2024 alongside a session with her J.O. Big Band.
