Bergen's Kakkmaddafakka have built their reputation on ferociously energetic live shows, and their catalogue backs it up with a sound that has drifted from indie rock toward something bigger and more arena ready over the years. The band first turned heads across Norway with their 2007 debut Down to Earth, which cracked the VG Topp30 despite a rough ride from critics. Producer Erlend Øye shaped the next two records, Hest and Six Months Is a Long Time, the latter landing on Universal Music Germany and spawning singles like "Someone New" and "Young". By 2019 they were pushing further into arena rock territory with Diplomacy, their sixth album, featuring "Naked Blue" and "Runaway Girl". The 2020 EP Ontas? and then their 2022 album Revelation show the band keeping busy and evolving. Through various lineup shifts over the years, founding brothers Axel and Pål Vindenes have remained the core of the group, part of what Norwegian press tagged the New Bergen Wave.
