About

KYTES grew out of a Munich school band called Blind Freddy, which the members used as a kind of extended practice run before rebranding in 2015 and stepping into something far more serious. Drawing from 80s synthpop, disco, and indie, their sound gets described as "peppy" a lot, and comparisons to Foals, Friendly Fires, and Daft Punk give you a decent picture of the vibe. Their debut single "Inner Cinema" won Song of the Year at the University of Canberra out of 230 entries, and their debut album Heads and Tales followed in 2016 via Sony's Filter Music, the same year they took home the New Music Award from German radio. Since founding their own label, Frisbee Records, in 2018, they have kept a steady pace: the album Good Luck in 2020, the EP Apricosa in 2022, and their third album To Feel Something At All in 2023. They have shared stages with Alt J and King No One, and the band openly set out to be a "European act with an international sound", which honestly tracks.
