About
Giant Rooks have been quietly building one of the more compelling stories in German indie rock since forming in Hamm in 2014. Their 2019 EP Wild Stare broke through in a big way, racking up over 50 million Spotify streams and scoring a top 20 radio hit in Italy, which led to a deal with Universal Music. The band cites Bob Dylan and Bon Iver as their biggest influences, and you can hear that mix of expansive songwriting and atmospheric indie pop across their work. Their debut album Rookery landed in 2020 and caught the ear of Radio X DJ John Kennedy, who spun the single All We Are on release day. A cover of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner with AnnenMayKantereit gave them their first UK chart entry in 2022. Their sophomore album How Have You Been?, released in February 2024, went straight to number one in Germany.
