About
Kangding Ray is a French musician, DJ and producer based in Berlin, best known for his work in electronic music and, more recently, film scoring. His soundtrack for the 2025 road film Sirāt, directed by Óliver Laxe, is a serious piece of work: it won the Cannes Jury Prize for Soundtrack, the Feroz and Goya Awards for Original Soundtrack, and the Gaudi Prize. He spent a year and a half collaborating with Laxe before the film even went into production. It was his second score, following Wann kommst du meine Wunden küssen in 2022. His electronic output spans albums from Stabil in 2006 through to Kiss my wounds in 2023, with a sound that draws on Soviet composer Eduard Artemyev as a key influence. Whether he is crafting dense club music or scoring haunting road film landscapes, there is a consistent cinematic weight to what he does.
