About

Named after the Led Zeppelin song, this Danish alternative rock band from Frederiksberg had to ditch their original name when a certain American grunge band made it impossible to keep. Good swap, as it turns out. Kashmir spent the 1990s building a devoted following in Denmark, then broke through internationally with a string of releases that earned them ten Danish Music Awards across 2000 and 2004 alone. Their most talked about moment might be the 2005 album No Balance Palace, where they somehow landed both Lou Reed and David Bowie as collaborators, with Tony Visconti producing. Reed recites a poem on "Black Building" and Bowie duets with frontman Kasper Eistrup on "The Cynic". Their sixth album Trespassers was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City and produced by Andy Wallace. After going on indefinite hiatus in 2017, the band eventually returned to the stage in 2022.
