About
Also known as: Kenneth Bron
Kenny B is a Surinamese reggae singer who spent years working in English and Sranan before being talked into singing in Dutch, and that switch turned out to be a very good call. His self titled album landed at number one on the Dutch Album Chart in May 2015. Its second single, Parijs, tells the story of a chance meeting in Paris with a Dutch girl who barely speaks French. It sat on top of the Dutch Top 40 for seven weeks and even inspired a few parody versions. A former member of the Surinamese army, he cites Bob Marley as his inspiration. He kept busy afterwards. In 2016 he teamed up with Ali B and Brace on one single and recorded a Dutch cover of That's My Number with Doe Maar on another. He also voiced Tamatoa in the Dutch version of Moana, wrote a song for Kinderen voor Kinderen, and took part in Beste Zangers in 2017. The 2019 album Hoe Dan Ook followed, and he is also a copyright ambassador for fellow Surinamese artists.
