About
Kid Francescoli is the electropop project of Marseille based musician Mathieu Hocine, and the name is a nod to Uruguayan football legend Enzo Francescoli, who played for Olympique de Marseille. Since 2009, Hocine has collaborated with vocalist Julia Minkin and drummer Mathieu Chrétien, giving the project a warmer, more textured sound. Their 2017 album Play Me Again turned out to be their biggest record yet, largely thanks to "Moon (And It Went Like)", a track that quietly blew up on TikTok and Instagram Reels, got shared by Jennifer Lopez and Lizzo, and landed a spot in the Netflix series Emily in Paris. By early 2020 it had racked up 18 million Spotify streams. The group has kept a steady output since, with Lovers arriving in 2020 and Sunset Blue in 2023, the latter mastered by French DJ Alex Gopher.
