About
Kin'Gongolo Kiniata build their instruments out of scrap: wooden planks, tin cans, empty beer crates and the odd plastic bottle. With that junkyard kit they recreate the noisy, chaotic street sound of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The result is highly experimental Afropop that pairs the energy of punk with electronic Congolese rhythms, and it lands somewhere close to afro house on the dancefloor. Their songs keep coming back to hope and perseverance, with a positive message aimed at young people in Kinshasa. The group made its debut at Trans Musicales in 2022 and has since carried that message to audiences in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Portugal, among other places.
