About
Also known as: Kinderen voor kinderen 07
Kinderen voor Kinderen is a Dutch children's choir with a streak that's hard to match: one album of brand new songs every year since 1980, and almost every one of them has landed in the top 40. It started as a fund raising campaign to buy toys for children in developing countries, and although that campaign wrapped up in 1991, the name is the one leftover from it. The songs come from letters sent in by kids. Well known Dutch lyricists then turn those ideas into finished tracks, which the choir of around 30 singers, aged 8 to 12, performs in an annual TV special. Over the years that has meant everything from a song about the stupidity of fur hunting to a ballad about Down's syndrome. In 2006 the show became a live pop concert for the first time, and a 27 CD box set in 2007 gave them their first top 10 album entry in almost ten years.
