About
Leadbeaters is an Amsterdam string band that sits somewhere between bluegrass, americana and cajun. The core is four people, all of whom sing: Sander Borst on acoustic guitar, Thomas Olivier on upright bass, Tony Sjef on mandolin and Moira Mirck on fiddle. The lineup is loose, though. Percussionist Martin de Ruiter, who also drums for T99, and Alan McLachlan, who plays Telecaster guitar and has played with The Scene, regularly join in, simply because they enjoy playing together without fuss. The band had been blending strings and voices for a good while before a long trip through the southern United States in 2023 made everything click. Jams, shows and chance encounters along the way gave their sound a solid footing. Combined with their stage and studio experience back home, that led to their debut album, Juice In The Crank.
