With 45 million records sold, Lil' Kim sits as the second best selling female rapper of all time, a status built on unapologetically explicit lyrics, a fearless fashion sense, and a knack for dropping tracks that stuck. Her 1996 debut Hard Core set the bar for female rap albums at the time, hitting number 11 on the Billboard 200 and eventually going double platinum. She followed that up with The Notorious K.I.M. and La Bella Mafia, the latter spawning 'Magic Stick', which climbed to number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Her feature on 'Lady Marmalade' in 2001 earned her a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. Beyond the music, she shaped fashion in ways that landed her work in the Museum of Modern Art, specifically the 'Money Nails' nail art design she wore in 1999, created with artist Bernadette Thompson. Her fifth studio album, 9, arrived in 2019, and she has kept collaborating since, including a 2024 release with Tayy Brown called 'Love For Ya'.
