Luke Winslow King is a Michigan born guitarist and multi instrumentalist whose sound sits at the crossroads of vintage blues, jazz, ragtime, and roots Americana. His slide guitar work is the thing people tend to talk about first, and it makes sense: he spent 15 years soaking up New Orleans, busking on Frenchmen Street and playing with the likes of George Porter Jr. and Roberto Luti before the city became as much a part of his musical DNA as anything formal he ever studied. He has released six albums on Bloodshot Records, ranging from the raw trio sound of his early work to the sunnier, more textured Blue Mesa, recorded in Tuscany. His 2016 record I'm Glad Trouble Don't Last Always is one of his most personal, shaped by divorce and his father's cancer diagnosis, and mixed by Colin DuPuis of The Black Keys. Lately he has been putting out performance videos with Luti, keeping that warm, unhurried blues energy going.
