About
Also known as: Jonathan Chai
Mad Tsai built his following the honest way, posting acoustic clips on TikTok under the handle @madsteaparty before the platform turned his 2020 single 'Boy Bi' into a viral moment. That song, a candid account of coming out as bisexual, connected hard with listeners navigating their own identities and helped establish Tsai as a genuine voice in queer pop. His music sits in a sweet spot between polished pop and introspective bedroom pop, weaving in queer, Asian, and Latinx perspectives on growing up. His 2022 single 'Stacy's Brother' showed off his wry side, flipping Fountains of Wayne's 'Stacy's Mom' into a queer reinterpretation that felt both playful and pointed. Since then he has kept up a steady stream of releases, with EPs like 'Teenage Nightmare' and a run of singles through 2025 that suggest he is very much in his stride. Teen Vogue and Gold House have both flagged him as a notable new voice in Asian and Latinx artistry coming out of social media.
