Mell VF, also known as Mell & Vintage Future, is a Dutch band built around the soulful voice of Melanie Jonk, backed by drummer Ton Dijkman and keyboardist Martin Scheppink. The group found a real breakthrough moment when their cover of Lou Reed's Perfect Day ended up in the American romantic sci fi film The In Between, landing on Netflix and pushing the track into Shazam charts across more than twenty countries. Their second album of original work, Break the Silence, debuted at number one on iTunes on the day of its release in April 2022, and later hit the top spot in the Dutch vinyl album chart too. The band has a knack for blending classic soul and rock influences with their own songwriting, and their covers have a way of finding unexpectedly large audiences. Jonk also appeared on the popular Dutch TV show Beste Zangers, while the band served as house band for the Dutch talk show Vandaag Inside. After the passing of founding member and keyboardist Nico Brandsen in early 2024, the group regrouped under the name Mell VF and kept moving forward with new music and live shows.
