About
Morbid built their cult reputation on just two demos, but what a footnote they left in extreme metal history. Formed in Stockholm in 1986, the band featured Per "Dead" Ohlin as their driving force, the same vocalist who would go on to define a generation with Norwegian black metal legends Mayhem. Their debut demo December Moon, recorded in late 1987, is the release fans keep coming back to. When Ohlin departed for Norway, the band limped on briefly with a replacement vocalist and recorded The Last Supper in 1988 before dissolving. The remaining members, Lars Göran Petrov and Ulf Cederlund, went on to form Nihilist, which eventually became Entombed, another cornerstone of Swedish death metal. Morbid never got far off the ground, but their recordings have since surfaced on vinyl and CD, keeping the legend alive for black and death metal devotees.
