About
Nails are not interested in wasting your time. The Oxnard, California hardcore outfit packs their songs so tight that most clock in well under two minutes, cramming grindcore, powerviolence, crust punk and death metal into a single relentless blur. Pitchfork put it well, calling their tracks "a chaotic, complex blend" that shifts constantly without ever losing the plot. Influences like Discharge, Slayer and Crossed Out are all in there if you listen close enough. Founded by Todd Jones, formerly of Terror and Carry On, Nails built their reputation across three bruising albums before a murky mid 2010s hiatus that Jones himself denied. After both original members John Gianelli and Taylor Young departed in 2020, Jones went quiet for nearly three years, then resurfaced with a completely new lineup to record Every Bridge Burning at God City Studios with Kurt Ballou, released on Nuclear Blast in 2024. It is as uncompromising as anything they have done before.
