About
Nile have spent more than thirty years turning technical death metal into something that sounds like it was dug out of a tomb. The band formed in 1993 around guitarist Karl Sanders, who remains the founding figure, and their trademark is a mix of blisteringly fast drumming, tangled guitar work and crushing riffs, all steeped in the music and mythology of ancient Egypt. Albums like Black Seeds of Vengeance, In Their Darkened Shrines and Annihilation of the Wicked built their reputation inside the international metal scene, and they have a name for being technically impressive on stage and uncompromising on record. The Underworld Awaits Us All is among their later releases. The Greenville, United States band still mixes death metal, Egyptian mysticism and dark themes into a sound that is as precise as it is merciless.
