OsamaSon, born Amari Deshawn Middleton, operates somewhere in the overlap between dark plugg, rage, and underground hip hop, building a sound that the Fader once described as "maximalist rage" and the Chicago Reader called "woozy, discombobulating, and sometimes suffocatingly layered". Heavy bass, thick synths, and a deliberately disorienting energy define his work. The Columbus rapper broke through in early 2023 when "Cts V" started circulating online, with internet personalities like BruceDropEmOff amplifying it through live streams. His debut mixtape Osama Season followed that summer and drew praise from Pitchfork and the Fader. He has kept up a serious release pace since then. Debut studio album Flex Musix dropped in December 2023, a collaborative record with Glokk40Spaz came in 2024, and Jump Out in January 2025 became his first album to crack the Billboard 200. His latest project, Psykotic, went even further, debuting at number 81 on that same chart. Recent music videos including "The Whole World Is Free" and "ik what you did last summer" show he has not slowed down.
