About
Brothers Tom and Ed Russell had already carved out distinct identities before joining forces as Overmono. Tom was producing hard techno under the name Truss, while Ed was making drum and bass and rave tracks as Tessela, with 2013's "Hackney Parrot" being a standout. Together, they blend those influences into something that sits across ambient, breakbeat, UK garage and broader electronic territory, releasing through XL Recordings and their own Poly Kicks label. Their debut album Good Lies dropped in May 2023, hit number 11 on the UK Albums Chart, and pulled an 83 on Metacritic. They have also built a close working relationship with Joy Orbison, releasing music together under the name Joy Overmono, and their collaborations keep coming, with tracks alongside Fred again, Lil Yachty and the Streets all landing in 2024.
