About
Pascal Schumacher is a Luxembourgish vibraphonist and composer whose work refuses to stay in one lane. His quartet built a serious touring footprint across Europe, Australia, South Africa, Asia and the Americas, and he has played as a soloist with orchestras ranging from the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg to the WDR Rundfunkorchester Köln. His music blends jazz improvisation with chamber sensibilities, drawing comparisons to Claude Debussy, Steve Reich and Igor Stravinsky. Over the years his discography has stretched from straight ahead quartet jazz into darker, more atmospheric territory. The SOL album and its Mudam Session film document a particularly cinematic side of his work, and his collaborations keep widening in scope, from the Drops and Points project with guitarist Maxime Delpierre and the Luxembourg Philharmonic to GLASS TWO, a 2024 duo record with pianist Danae Dörken that earned them the Opus Klassik Award in 2025. Few vibraphonists operate at quite this range.
