Few bands have reinvented themselves as radically as Radiohead. The Abingdon five piece broke through globally with "Creep" in 1993, but rather than lean into that success, they spent the following decade dismantling expectations album by album. OK Computer in 1997 set a new bar for ambitious rock production, tackling modern alienation over labyrinthine arrangements, and is still widely regarded as one of the greatest albums ever made. Then Kid A arrived in 2000 and threw everything out: guitar rock gave way to electronics, jazz fragments, and krautrock influence, dividing fans at the time but later named album of the decade by multiple publications. Radiohead kept pushing from there. In Rainbows in 2007 made headlines partly for letting buyers name their own price, and it was a genuine artistic triumph too. A Moon Shaped Pool in 2016 leaned into orchestral textures courtesy of Jonny Greenwood's string arrangements. The band has six Grammys and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction to their name, and they hold the record for most Mercury Prize nominations of any act.
