Roger Shah has been one of the more versatile figures in trance music, equally at home crafting sun soaked Balearic grooves as he is building full scale club anthems. The German producer from Esslingen am Neckar operates under a handful of aliases, with Sunlounger being the most celebrated: the 2007 album Another Day on the Terrace hit number one on Dutch iTunes across all genres, and the follow up Sunny Tales produced the track "Lost", voted Tune of the Year for 2008. His collaboration with Armin van Buuren on "Going Wrong" featuring Chris Jones reached number five in the Netherlands and became one of the biggest selling trance singles of that year. Shah's production credits stretch across some big names, including Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams, and Moya Brennan. His Magic Island compilation series has run to thirteen volumes, and his solo output spans everything from meditative ambient records to club focused trance. He also appeared five times in the DJ Mag Top 100, a decent measure of just how consistently he stayed on the radar of the genre's core audience.
