About
Also known as: M. Schulz, Marcus Schulz, Marcus Shulz, Markus "The Slice" Schulz, Markus Schultz, Markus Shultz, Markus Shulz
Markus Schulz has a nickname that tells you everything: the Unicorn Slayer. While plenty of DJs lean into light, feel good melodies, the German born, Miami based trance producer goes the other way, reaching for square waves and pitch bends that hit harder and darker. That instinct has served him well across a serious body of work: nine studio albums under his own name, plus four more under his alter ego Dakota, where he goes deeper into progressive and atmospheric territory on releases like The Nine Skies and Odyssey to the Netherworld. His weekly show Global DJ Broadcast has been a fixture for trance fans for years, and his label Coldharbour Recordings has given a platform to plenty of rising names in electronic music. He has played everywhere from Ultra Music Festival to the Love Parade, and his remixes for Jewel hit number one on the Billboard club chart twice. On the collaboration front, he teamed up with Ferry Corsten as New World Punx, debuting at Madison Square Garden. His 2023 album The Rabbit Hole Circus shows he is not slowing down.
