About
Star Search's grand champion in its very first season back in 1983, Sam Harris turned a showstopping take on "Over the Rainbow" into a career defining signature. That win led straight to a Motown Records deal, and his debut single "Sugar Don't Bite" cracked the Billboard Hot 100 not long after. Since then he has built a catalogue of nine studio albums and sold millions of records, playing rooms as big as Carnegie Hall and London's West End along the way. His stage work is just as substantial. Broadway roles in The Producers, Grease, and Cy Coleman's The Life earned him Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle nominations. He also writes his own material for the stage: his solo show HAM: A Musical Memoir swept the Ovation Awards in Los Angeles, taking Best Musical, Best Actor, and Best Musical Director. On top of all that, he has published two books, an essay collection and a novel, both released through major publishers.
