About

Släpstick, the Dutch band and theatre group formerly known as Wëreldbänd, is a collective of conservatory trained musicians who between them play more than fifty instruments. That range lets them move freely across genres, from gypsy music and jazz to classical and pop, sometimes all within the same show. Founded in 1997 by Willem van Baarsen, Rogier Bosman, Sanne van Delft and Ro Krauss, the group made the leap into theatre in 2005 with their cabaret style music spectacular Lekker Warm, which ran for three full seasons in Dutch theatres. Over the years they have worked with directors including Martin van Waardenberg and Harry Piekema, and collaborated with artists such as Ellen ten Damme, Brigitte Kaandorp and Karin Bloemen. Their recorded catalogue spans several albums and DVDs, including Playground and the self titled Släpstick release. In 2018 the group received the Johan Kaartprijs.
