About
Sunken Lands play Dutch Americana that sits somewhere between Waylon Jennings and Drive By Truckers, mixing melancholy with real drive. Their sound runs from sad songs to harder hitting alt country, and they make a case that authentic country can come out of the north of the Netherlands. The band's name nods to the peat landscapes of Groningen and Drenthe, and also to Rosanne Cash. Edwin Jongedijk is the driving force, with a weathered, distinctive voice, and guitarist Rowdy Prins adds subtle parts that give the songs their atmosphere. The musicians have previously worked with names like Bertolf and Hannah Mae. Their album Burning Desire earned a five star review in Lust for Life.
