About
Sybil turned Dionne Warwick covers into her calling card. Her take on "Don't Make Me Over" became a worldwide crossover hit, reaching No. 20 in the US and No. 1 in New Zealand, and her version of "Walk On By" hit No. 6 in the UK, still the highest chart position that Bacharach and David classic has managed there. Both came off her self titled second album, which was released as Walk On By in the UK after she signed with PWL Records. The UK stayed good to her. In 1993 she went to No. 3 with a cover of "The Love I Lost", followed by "When I'm Good and Ready" at No. 5. That year she put out two different albums, Doin' It Now! for North America with a more R&B and soul feel, and Good 'N' Ready for Europe, mixed with Stock and Waterman Europop. Her 1987 title track "Let Yourself Go" even got sampled for Ridge Racer.
